Exploring Camecuaro Lake
Camecuaro Lake is situated in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range and covers an area of 45 hectares. The lake is fed by natural springs and has crystal-clear waters that are perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. But the best way to explore the lake is by taking a boat ride.
The Boat Ride Our boat ride started at the pier near the entrance of the park.
As we boarded the boat, we were greeted by our friendly guide who gave us a brief history of the lake. He explained that Camecuaro Lake was once a sacred site for the indigenous Purépecha people, who believed that the lake was the dwelling place of the god Tanganxoan.
As we started our journey, we were amazed by the beauty of the lake. The water was so clear that we could see fish swimming underneath us. We passed by small islands covered in greenery and saw ducks and other water birds nesting on them. The calm and peaceful atmosphere made us feel like we were in a different world.
The Surrounding Nature
The lake is surrounded by dense forests that are home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, squirrels, and raccoons. We saw some of these animals as we rode along the lake’s shoreline. The forests are also home to several species of birds, making it a perfect spot for birdwatching.
The boat ride lasted for about 30 minutes, and we enjoyed every moment of it. As we got off the boat, we took some time to explore the park and its surroundings. We saw several families having picnics by the lake, and some were even swimming in the cool waters. There were also several hiking trails that we could have explored if we had more time.
